The day-trip from CDMX

Teotihuacan sits about 50 km northeast of Mexico City — a 60–75 minute drive that, before sunrise, you really don't want to do yourself. Let us drive instead: our included transport scoops you up in the dark and delivers you right to the meeting point.

The day-trip route from Mexico City to the Teotihuacan launch point A before-dawn pickup in Mexico City, then a one-hour drive northeast along Highway 85D, landing you at the Teotihuacan meeting point in time for the sunrise flight. Out the door before sunrise, in the air about an hour later — that's the whole journey.

We collect you before dawn (4:30 AM)

Choose the All Inclusive package and we'll roll up to your hotel or a central CDMX spot while the city's still asleep — no driving in the dark for you. Your exact pickup time is confirmed when you book.

An hour on the road northeast (Hwy 85D)

It's about 50 km along the Mexico–Pachuca highway toward San Juan Teotihuacan — 60–75 minutes depending on traffic. Doze off or watch the horizon turn from black to gold; we'll handle the wheel.

You land at the Teotihuacan meeting point

You'll pull up beside the archaeological zone roughly 30 minutes before take-off. Check in, shake hands with your AFAC-certified pilot and catch a quick safety briefing while the balloon fills with air right in front of you.

And then — you fly at sunrise

Up you go as the sun crests the Pyramid of the Sun and the Avenue of the Dead unrolls beneath you. The whole experience runs about an hour and ends, as it should, with a celebratory toast.

[01]

Let us drive (the easy choice)

Our All Inclusive package ($3,700 MXN shared, about US$202, or $3,400 MXN private, about US$186) bundles in round-trip transport. We grab you in Mexico City at 4:30 AM and deliver you to the launch point — zero early-morning driving on your part. All seven tiers, $2,100 to $3,750 MXN (about US$115 to US$205), sit side by side in the 2026 price list.

[02]

Take your own car

Point it down the Mexico–Pachuca highway (Hwy 85D) toward San Juan Teotihuacan — 60–75 minutes from central CDMX. Set off before dawn; once you've booked, we email you the exact meeting point and where to park.

[03]

Bus then taxi (budget route)

Autobuses Teotihuacan depart Mexico City's Terminal Norte for San Juan Teotihuacan, and a quick local taxi finishes the trip to the meeting point. The catch: leave very early — the bus has to get you there before sunrise.

[04]

How early is early?

Balloons only fly at first light, so pickups and meeting times land very early — a 4:30 AM departure. You'll get your precise pickup time the moment you book.

[05]

Once you arrive

Plan to be there about 30 minutes ahead of take-off. You'll check in, meet your AFAC-certified pilot and hear a short safety briefing before the balloon is inflated.

[06]

Block out a half-day

Set aside roughly half a day all in: the dark-of-night drive, the ~1-hour flight experience and the toast. Most travelers then wander the archaeological zone while they're already there.

The 4:30 AM logistics are on us

A sunrise flight means a brutally early start, and navigating unfamiliar Mexican highways in the dark on no sleep is nobody's idea of a vacation. Our transport from Mexico City takes that off your plate entirely — you're collected before dawn, driven straight to the meeting point and wide awake for the part that actually matters.

Traveler tip

Book the All Inclusive package ($3,700 MXN shared, about US$202) and transport, flight and every pre-dawn detail are sorted in a single reservation — perfect when you're new to the city.

Three steps and you're set

The whole thing takes a couple of minutes. Book online through our system at any hour, or fire off a WhatsApp message to +52 55 3473 0006 and a human will sort it with you. Pin down your date early — popular mornings fill up fast.

[02]

Lock in your date

Reserve in seconds via our online booking system, or message us on WhatsApp and we'll confirm a morning that works for you.

[03]

Show up & soar

You'll receive your pickup or meeting point and time. Check in at the We Fly Teotihuacan reception before sunrise, then watch the pyramids fall away beneath you.

Reserve now, fly at first light

Book any time of day through our online system, or send one WhatsApp message and a real person will help you settle on a date, a package and a pickup point. After that, your only job is to show up before dawn — everything else is ours to handle.

Weather guarantee

The threshold is a measured one: above 10 km/h (about 6 mph) of surface wind we do not fly. That reading is taken on the launch field before the envelope is inflated, and the pilot in command makes the call at first light. If he stands the morning down we move your trip at no cost, as many times as it takes — your reservation stands and you just pick another morning.

Before you fly

If conditions ground the flight for safety, rescheduling is free — your reservation stays put and you simply choose a new morning. Bring your phone and camera; they're welcome on board. Our full safety guide covers the weather call and everything else to pack.

What you can hold us to

Before you write to us, here is what already stands behind every flight we sell — checkable before you pay, and enforceable the morning you fly.

[01]

Flying since 2017

We lifted our first travelers over the valley in 2017 and have launched from the same field beside the archaeological zone ever since.

[02]

AFAC-certified pilots

Every balloon is flown by a commercial pilot licensed by AFAC, Mexico's Federal Civil Aviation Agency. Ask to see the licence at the launch field.

[03]

Traveler insurance included

Passenger insurance is built into the fare of every flight and into all 7 packages — not an upsell, not a box you tick at checkout.

[04]

Free weather reschedule

Above 10 km/h (about 6 mph) of surface wind we do not take off, and we move your date at no cost with no limit on how many times. We would rather lose the morning than force it — read the terms in our balloon cancellation and reschedule policy.

[05]

Paid in full, online

Card (+5%) or PayPal (no surcharge) through this site, with written confirmation carrying your date, your meeting point and your time. Nothing to settle at the field.

[06]

The rules, before you book

Minimum age is 5 and pregnant travelers cannot fly. Two rules with no exceptions — better you read them here than hear them at the basket.

Answers before you book

I'm visiting from abroad — where exactly are you based?

We are at Carretera Mexico Tulancingo Km. 27.4, 55830 Teotihuacan de Arista, Estado de Mexico — the launch field beside the Teotihuacan archaeological zone, in the State of Mexico, about 50 km northeast of Mexico City.

What's the easiest way to reach the launch point from my hotel?

The launch point is out in Teotihuacan, State of Mexico, about a 60–75 minute drive from central Mexico City. By far the simplest option is our transport from CDMX, which collects you before dawn and drops you at the meeting point — though you're free to drive or catch a bus to San Juan Teotihuacan instead.

How do I actually reserve my spot?

Two easy ways: book online in a couple of minutes through our reservation system, or send us a WhatsApp message at +52 55 3473 0006 and we'll handle it together. Either way, reserve ahead so your preferred morning is guaranteed.

How early do I need to be up for this?

Because the balloons fly at sunrise, pickups and departures are very early — at 4:30 AM. Plan to reach the We Fly Teotihuacan reception about 30 minutes before take-off for check-in and the safety briefing. You are in the air 45 to 60 minutes, and the morning on the field runs about 3 to 4 hours; with our transport from Mexico City, about 8 hours 30 minutes door to door.

Can you drive me there from Mexico City?

Absolutely. The All Inclusive package ($3,700 MXN, about US$202) bundles in shared round-trip transport from Mexico City, and a private option ($3,400 MXN, about US$186) gives you a vehicle of your own — so you never have to drive in the pre-dawn dark.

When can I reach your team?

Our WhatsApp, phone and booking lines are staffed 24/7 — someone answers at any hour, any day of the week, which is why our Google Business Profile reads "Open 24 hours". The flights themselves run only at sunrise: check-in 5:30 AM, lift-off around 6:00 AM, and always subject to the wind: above 10 km/h (about 6 mph) of surface wind we do not fly, and the pilot in command makes that call on the field at first light.

Do you have an office in Mexico City?

No. Hot Air Balloon Teotihuacan has one address and it is the launch field at Carretera Mexico Tulancingo Km. 27.4, 55830 Teotihuacan de Arista, Estado de Mexico. There is no Mexico City office and no second branch to visit — what we do offer in Mexico City is the 4:30 AM hotel pickup included in the All Inclusive ($3,700 MXN, about US$202) and private-transport ($3,400 MXN, about US$186) packages.

What is your email address and phone number?

Email us at info@hotairballoonteotihuacan.com and call or WhatsApp us at +52 55 3473 0006. That is the only phone number we use — if you see a different number attached to our name, it is not ours.

Where do I see photos of the flight before I book?

Our gallery of sunrise balloon photos holds 49 different photographs shot on real sunrise flights from this same launch field — the inflation in the dark, the Pyramid of the Sun from overhead, the Avenue of the Dead and the landing toast. None of them is stock.

Still researching? Dig into the safety guide and operator check, browse our sunrise balloon flights home page, or head straight to the online booking system.

Want to know who answers the phone? the operator page names the eleven pilots travelers name in their reviews. And if you are still weighing the 4 a.m. alarm, the measured case for the sunrise flight puts cloud cover, wind limit and timings in figures.

In their own words

4.8 out of 5 from 191 reviews on our Google Business Profile — open the listing and read every one of them. The 6 below were pasted out of that panel word for word, the customer's own spelling included. All 6 carry their own score because the owner confirmed each one against his panel; not a single one is assumed. 3 of them also carry the day they were written, between August 4 and 7, 2026. For the others the panel only said “a week ago”, and that day is not ours to guess. They name their pilots: Antonio and Naien.

If you write to ask who will fly you, this is the honest answer. Around 35 pilots fly with this brand and the basket is assigned in the small hours of the flight itself, so a closed list of five would not be the team. The eleven that travelers name by name in our reviews are Antonio, Roberto G., Raúl, Marco B., Naien, Naren, Fernando, Fernando F., Héctor, Alejandro S. and María. A passenger, Joy Pogoy, wrote on 7 August 2026 that Antonio has 14 years of experience — her words, in the Google listing, not a claim of ours. Ours is the AFAC commercial licence every pilot carries, which you can ask to read at the field.

Antonio was a fantastic pilot. Great experience, would recommend.
