Direct answer

A sunrise hot air balloon flight over Teotihuacan costs between $2,100 MXN and $3,750 MXN per person in 2026 — roughly US$115 to US$205 — and where you land in that range is simply a matter of how much you want bundled in. The entry tier is the seat-only Balloon Ride at $2,100 MXN (≈ US$115); the top tier is the Private Balloon Flight at $3,750 MXN (≈ US$205). If you are flying as a day-trip from Mexico City, the tiers that add a CDMX pickup cost $3,700 MXN (≈ US$202, shared van) or $3,400 MXN (≈ US$186, private transfer). Your booking is paid online when you reserve; settling by card adds +5%, while PayPal and bank transfer add nothing.

Whatever you pay, the fare already covers 45 to 60 minutes in the air, AFAC-certified pilots, passenger insurance and the sparkling-wine toast on landing. Some tiers add more on the ground: the $2,100 Balloon Ride comes with coffee before the flight and a personalised flight certificate, the $2,300 Traditional with a welcome coffee and a certificate, the $2,300 Birthday with a name diploma, and the three tiers with breakfast are the cave tier and the two that leave from Mexico City. What changes with the tier is how much of your morning it takes: about 3 hours for the seat-only Balloon Ride and the Private Balloon Flight, 4 hours for the Birthday and Traditional tiers, 5 hours with the cave breakfast at La Gruta, and about 8 hours 30 minutes door to door on the two tiers that collect you in Mexico City, back around 1:00 PM.

Dollar figures are approximate and rounded, converted at 18.3 MXN/USD, August 2026 — the charge is in MXN. You are always charged in Mexican pesos, so your bank's rate on the day decides the final amount. Flight times are fixed whatever you pay: Mexico City pickup 4:30 a.m., check-in at the We Fly Teotihuacan reception 5:30 a.m., lift-off between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. — the crew calls the minute at first light, on the wind — and 45 to 60 minutes in the air.

Seven tiers, one sunrise

Every tier delivers the same 45-to-60-minute sunrise flight over the pyramids with pilots licensed by AFAC (Mexico's Federal Civil Aviation Agency), English-speaking, and passenger insurance — the cost simply rises as you add a Mexico City pickup, a cave breakfast, or a balloon to yourselves. They are listed lowest to highest, per traveler in Mexican pesos. Tap a tier for the full tour page, or see the tier-by-tier comparison table at a glance. If you would rather read what each tier is before you read what it costs, the catalogue of the seven Teotihuacan balloon flights walks through them one by one.

Don't mix these up: the $3,400 tier is the only one that puts you in a shared balloon yet gives you private transport from Mexico City. The $3,750 Private Balloon Flight buys the whole basket but no pickup — "private" means the balloon, not the transfer. Want to weigh every inclusion side by side? Compare every tier side by side.

So which one is yours?

Seven tiers, and the decision really comes down to three things: how much you want to spend, whether you are setting out from Mexico City, and what you are celebrating. The flight itself does not change — 45 to 60 minutes at sunrise over the pyramids, certified pilots and passenger insurance in every one of the seven. So read the six cases below, find the one that sounds like your morning, and let the price follow the decision instead of the other way round. Once you have a shortlist, weigh what each fare covers, row by row.

If you want to spend the least

$2,100 MXN · Balloon Ride

The sunrise flight on its own, insurance and the toast on landing included, about 3 hours on the field from check-in. You make your own way to the We Fly Teotihuacan reception — that is the whole reason it is the cheapest seat we sell. Read what the seat-only Teotihuacan Hot Air Balloon Ride includes.

If there is a birthday to celebrate

$2,300 MXN · Birthday Flight

Built for celebrating as a group: birthday decoration, a name diploma for the guest of honour and the birthday toast the moment you touch down. It is the one tier with a smaller basket — up to 12 passengers instead of 16. See how the Birthday Balloon Flight is set up for the guest of honour.

If you are coming with family or friends

$2,300 MXN · Traditional Flight

The classic morning, at the same fare as the birthday tier: welcome coffee before dawn, the widest sweep of the valley and the two great pyramids, a sparkling toast and a flight certificate. Around 4 hours in total. Read what the Traditional Balloon Flight adds on the ground.

If you want the morning to feel complete

$2,590 MXN · Flight + Cave Breakfast

You land, you sit down and you eat a traditional Mexican breakfast inside a natural cave at La Gruta. It stretches the morning to about 5 hours and it is the only tier where the meal is the point. See the flight that ends with breakfast inside a cave.

If you are setting out from Mexico City

$3,700 or $3,400 MXN · with transport

Only two of the seven collect you in the city: pickup is at 4:30 a.m. and breakfast is inside both fares. Take the All Inclusive morning with shared transport from Mexico City at $3,700, or, if you would rather nobody else rode along, the shared flight with a private vehicle for your group at $3,400. On the other five you make your own way to the field.

If you want real privacy

$3,750 MXN · Private Balloon

The whole balloon chartered for your group, with a premium toast and decoration to your taste — made for proposals and anniversaries. It is charged per person from 2 to 8 passengers with a minimum of 2, so the smallest private booking is $7,500 MXN, and transport from Mexico City is not part of it. See the Private Balloon Flight chartered for your group alone.

Whichever case is yours, the fare does not move with the calendar: the same per-person price applies every morning of the year, weekends and holidays included. What the calendar does change is the odds of a clear sky — see which months wake up clearest over the valley before you fix a date.

In their own words

4.8 out of 5 from 191 reviews on our Google Business Profile — open the listing and read every one of them. The 6 below were pasted out of that panel word for word, the customer's own spelling included. All 6 carry their own score because the owner confirmed each one against his panel; not a single one is assumed. 4 of them also carry the day they were written, between August 4 and 7, 2026. For the others the panel only said “a week ago”, and that day is not ours to guess. They name their pilots: Antonio and Roberto G.

We had our first hot air balloon experience this morning and it was a true once in a lifetime experience. I was nervous leading up to our experience but the entire organization was top notch and professional. Our pilot Antonio was terrific! He was fun, professional and made the experience even that much better. If visiting the Mexico City area I couldn’t recommend this company and experience any more!

Roberto G was our pilot and made the flight a wonderful and safe experience. Would do it over and over again if I could!

Fantastic experience, I would highly recommend. Very well organised. Helpful, approachable staff and experienced and friendly "pilot".

Who is charging you

Who charges you, and who flies you

Every figure on this page is charged by Hot Air Balloon Teotihuacan, the operator that flies you — not a reseller taking a margin on someone else's balloon. We have been lifting off from the same field beside the archaeological zone since 2017, we have flown 15,000+ passengers in that time, and the basket is commanded by pilots licensed by AFAC (Mexico's Federal Civil Aviation Agency). Around 35 pilots fly with us across the season, and these are the ones passengers name themselves in our Google reviews: Antonio, Roberto G., Raúl, Marco B., Naien, Naren, Fernando, Fernando F., Héctor, Alejandro S. and María. A passenger, Joy Pogoy, wrote on 7 August 2026 that Antonio, the pilot, has 14 years of experience — that is the review talking, not a figure of ours. You can ask to see the licence at the launch field.

Booking with us, or booking blind

The internet is full of Teotihuacan balloon offers that look alike at the price level and do not deliver the same morning. These are the six things worth checking on any operator before you pay — and the middle column does not ask you to take our word for it: each line says how you can verify it yourself, on this site, on the field or on a listing we do not control.

Swipe the table to see how you can check each claim

What to check before paying for a Teotihuacan balloon flight, and how to verify it
What you should check Hot Air Balloon Teotihuacan — and how you check it A generic tour listing
Passenger insurance inside the fare Yes. In all seven fares, at every price. Every tier, with its inclusions written out one by one, is published in the machine-readable product feed this site serves — the same file an AI assistant reads. No. Sometimes sold as an extra, sometimes simply not mentioned.
Who is actually commanding the balloon Yes. Commercial pilots licensed by AFAC, Mexico's Federal Civil Aviation Agency. Around 35 pilots fly with us, and we name the ones our passengers name: Antonio, Roberto G., Raúl, Marco B., Naien, Naren, Fernando, Fernando F., Héctor, Alejandro S. and María. Ask to see the licence at the launch field, or read who each of the pilots is before you book. No. Rarely stated, and the pilot is almost never named.
What happens when the weather closes in Yes. Free rescheduling, with no limit on how many times, and the trigger is published: above 10 km/h (about 6 mph) of surface wind on the launch field we do not fly. It is written down, not promised in passing: the reschedule and cancellation terms in full. No. Often unwritten — and the money paid up front is what is at risk.
Whether transport from Mexico City exists at all Yes. Built into two of the seven fares — $3,700 MXN with a shared van, $3,400 MXN with a private vehicle — with pickup in the city at 4:30 a.m. See how the day trip from Mexico City is organised. No. Usually your problem: a launch field 50 km away, to be reached before dawn.
Prices published in full, fee included Yes. All seven 2026 fares are on this page, per person in Mexican pesos, and the only surcharge is stated before you start: 5% if you pay by card, nothing with PayPal or bank transfer. No. A headline figure, with the fees appearing at the last step of checkout.
A record you can look up yourself Yes. Flying from this same field since 2017 and rated 4.8 out of 5 across 191 reviews on a listing we cannot edit — read all 191 reviews on our Google listing. No. Varies by operator, and often there is no verifiable listing to check.

The right-hand column describes what we keep running into on generic listings for this valley; it is a caution about what to verify, not a claim about any named competitor. Run the same six checks on whoever you end up booking with, including us.

Where your money goes

The sunrise flight itself is identical at every tier — the extra pesos buy a cave breakfast, a Mexico City transfer, or a balloon kept to your group. A green check means it's in the price; a red cross means it isn't.

Paying from abroad

Reserving is painless from anywhere: you pay your booking online and your sunrise date is secured. We take credit and debit cards, PayPal and bank transfer — only the card adds 5%. The figures on this page are the per-traveler totals before that card surcharge. Because you pay in full up front, read the cancellation and reschedule policy before you book.

[01]

Paid Online

You pay your booking online when you reserve, and your sunrise date is locked in from that moment.

[02]

Card Adds +5%

Credit or debit card payments carry a 5% surcharge over the listed figure. PayPal and bank transfer carry none, so they are the two ways to pay exactly the price you see. Whichever you choose, you are charged in Mexican pesos (MXN) — never in dollars.

[03]

Per Traveler, Always

Every figure here — from $2,100 to $3,750 MXN — is the cost for one person, charged for each passenger who actually lifts off.

[04]

Weather, No Penalty

The line is a number: above 10 km/h (about 6 mph) of surface wind we do not fly, read on the launch field before the envelope is inflated, with the pilot in command making the final call that dawn. When that happens we move your booking to another morning at no extra cost, with no limit on how many times — your payment stays with you, never forfeited. The full cancellation and reschedule policy covers what happens if you are the one who cancels.

[05]

Bringing Children

The per-traveler cost applies to everyone aboard, but the minimum age is 5 years, with no exceptions, and pregnant travelers cannot fly at any stage. Message us before you book so we can confirm the age and weight requirements for younger flyers.

[06]

Pickup from CDMX

No car in Mexico City? A shared van is built into the $3,700 tier and a private transfer into the $3,400 tier — no separate arrangement needed. On the other five tiers the round-trip transfer is an add-on at checkout, $1,500 MXN per person (about US$82), so a $2,100 flight with the transfer added comes to $3,600 MXN, and the La Gruta breakfast is $550 more — $4,150 in total, $450 above the $3,700 All Inclusive, which carries all three.

[07]

How Long It Takes

The flight is 45 to 60 minutes at every price, but the morning is longer: about 3 hours on the field for the $2,100 Balloon Ride and the $3,750 Private Balloon Flight, 4 hours for the $2,300 Birthday and Traditional tiers, 5 hours with the cave breakfast at $2,590, and about 8 hours 30 minutes door to door on the $3,700 and $3,400 tiers that collect you in Mexico City, back around 1:00 PM.

Cost & booking FAQ

How much does a hot air balloon ride in Teotihuacan cost in 2026?

Expect $2,100 MXN to $3,750 MXN per traveler (roughly US$115 to US$205), depending on the tier you pick. The seat-only Balloon Ride is $2,100 MXN; the Birthday and Traditional flights are $2,300 MXN each; the Flight + Breakfast in a Cave (La Gruta) is $2,590 MXN; the All Inclusive tier with a shared Mexico City pickup is $3,700 MXN; the shared flight with private transport is $3,400 MXN; and the Private Balloon Flight is $3,750 MXN per traveler. You are always charged in Mexican pesos; the dollar figures are approximate, converted at 18.3 MXN/USD, August 2026 — the charge is in MXN.

What is the cheapest way to fly a balloon over Teotihuacan?

The lowest-cost tier is the Teotihuacan Hot Air Balloon Ride at $2,100 MXN per traveler. It is seat-only, so you arrange your own way to launch — but you still get the full 45 to 60 minutes of sunrise flying, AFAC-certified pilots, passenger insurance, coffee before the flight, a celebratory toast on landing and a personalised flight certificate. Budget about 3 hours on the field, from check-in to the toast.

Which tiers include a pickup from Mexico City?

Two of the seven do. The All Inclusive tier at $3,700 MXN comes with a shared round-trip van, and the Shared Flight + Private Transport at $3,400 MXN comes with a private round-trip transfer for your group. The $3,750 Private Balloon Flight does not bundle transport — there, "private" refers to the balloon, not the ride from the city.

Can I add the Mexico City transfer to a flight-only tier?

Yes. On the five tiers that do not bundle it, the round-trip transfer from Mexico City is an add-on at checkout: $1,500 MXN per person (about US$82), with pickup at 4:30 a.m. and the ride back afterwards. Bought that way it costs more than bundled: the $2,100 MXN flight plus the $1,500 MXN transfer plus the $550 MXN La Gruta breakfast comes to $4,150 MXN (about US$227), while the All Inclusive day trip from Mexico City is $3,700 MXN (about US$202) and the same flight with a private vehicle is $3,400 MXN (about US$186), breakfast at La Gruta included in the All Inclusive. The two tiers that already include transport do not show the add-on, so nobody is charged twice for the same ride.

How much do I pay when I reserve a date?

The full price of your booking is paid online when you reserve. And the weather cannot cost you that money: above 10 km/h (about 6 mph) of surface wind we do not fly, measured on the launch field before inflating, with the final call made by the pilot in command that morning rather than by the office the night before. When it grounds you we move you to another morning at no extra cost, as many times as the sky forces it — so your payment is never lost, even from abroad.

Does paying by card cost extra?

Only the card does. Credit or debit card payments add a 5% surcharge on top of the listed figure; PayPal and bank transfer add nothing, so those two are the way to pay exactly what you see. Every figure on this page is per traveler in Mexican pesos (MXN), quoted before that card fee.

Do children cost the same as adults?

The minimum age to fly is 5 years, with no exceptions, and pregnant travelers cannot fly at any stage. Beyond that, every figure shown is per traveler and applies to each passenger who flies, child or adult. If you're flying as a family, message us on WhatsApp before booking so we can confirm the age and weight requirements and the final total for your group.

Why do the Birthday and Traditional flights cost the same?

Both the Birthday Balloon Flight and the Traditional Balloon Flight sit at $2,300 MXN per traveler because they fly the very same 45-to-60-minute sunrise route, take the same 4 hours of your morning and carry the same inclusions. What changes is the occasion and the toast we raise — not the cost.

How many passengers share the basket at each price?

The shared tiers — the $2,100 Balloon Ride, the $2,300 Traditional Balloon Flight, the $2,590 Flight + Breakfast in a Cave, the $3,700 All Inclusive and the $3,400 Shared Flight + Private Transport — fly in a basket that carries up to 16 passengers standing. The $2,300 Birthday Balloon Flight is capped at 12. The $3,750 Private Balloon Flight is exclusive to your party: from 2 to 8 passengers, with a minimum of 2, and it is priced per traveler, so two people pay $7,500 MXN in total.

Can I pay in US dollars?

No — every booking is charged in Mexican pesos (MXN). The dollar figures quoted on this page are approximate, converted at 18.3 MXN/USD in August 2026, so the exact amount billed depends on your own bank's rate on the day. Card payments add a 5% surcharge on top of the MXN figure; PayPal and bank transfer do not.

What time does the morning start, and are you open 24 hours?

We answer 24/7, but we only fly at sunrise. Pickup in Mexico City is at 4:30 a.m. on the two tiers that include transport, check-in at the We Fly Teotihuacan reception is at 5:30 a.m. and lift-off is at 6:00 to 6:30 a.m. — the crew calls the exact minute at first light, on that morning's wind — with 45 to 60 minutes in the air. Block out the whole morning: about 3 hours for the seat-only Balloon Ride and for the Private Balloon Flight, 4 hours for the Birthday and Traditional tiers, 5 hours with the cave breakfast, and about 8 hours 30 minutes door to door on the two tiers that pick you up in Mexico City, back around 1:00 PM. There are no afternoon or night flights at any price. The hour-by-hour day-trip plan lays the whole morning out.

Which of the seven tiers should I choose?

Three questions settle it: what you want to spend, whether you are setting out from Mexico City, and what you are celebrating. To spend the least, the $2,100 Balloon Ride — the sunrise flight on its own, about 3 hours on the field. For a birthday, the $2,300 Birthday Balloon Flight, with a name diploma and a basket capped at 12. For the classic morning with family or friends, the $2,300 Traditional Balloon Flight. To sit down afterwards, the $2,590 Flight + Breakfast in a Cave at La Gruta. Setting out from Mexico City without a car, the $3,700 All Inclusive with a shared van or the $3,400 version with a private vehicle — those are the only two that collect you. And for the balloon to yourselves, the $3,750 Private Balloon Flight, priced per traveler from 2 to 8 passengers. The flight is the same in all seven: 45 to 60 minutes at sunrise. The six cases above walk through each choice.

Does the price change with the season, at weekends or on holidays?

No. Each of the seven tiers carries a single published price per traveler, valid through 2026, and it is the same every morning of the year — weekends, holidays and high season included. There is no weekend supplement and no peak-date fare. What the calendar changes is not the price but the odds of a clear sky: November to April is the dry season on the central Mexican plateau and mornings tend to wake up clear, while June to September brings more low cloud. And if conditions do not allow a safe lift-off, we move you to another morning free of charge, with no limit on how many times — so booking in the rainy season can cost you a change of date, never money. Which months fly clearest over the valley goes month by month.

What is not included in the price?

Three things, and none of them is a surprise at the field. First, admission to the archaeological zone: flying over the pyramids is not the same as walking among them, and the INAH ticket is bought separately — $105 MXN for Mexican nationals and foreign residents who show ID, $210 MXN general admission (INAH, official listing for the Teotihuacan archaeological zone, 2026). Second, the 5% card surcharge, if you settle with a credit or debit card; PayPal and bank transfer add nothing. Third, transport from Mexico City on five of the seven tiers — only the $3,700 All Inclusive and the $3,400 Shared Flight + Private Transport bring it inside the fare. On the other five you can add the round-trip transfer at checkout for $1,500 MXN per person (about US$82), or make your own way to the launch field. Everything you need to actually fly is already in the price: the 45-to-60-minute flight, the AFAC-certified pilot, passenger insurance and the toast on landing.
